What to expect from a pest inspection

A little preparation helps turn a worrying pest problem into a clearer conversation.

Start with what you noticed

You do not need to identify a pest before asking for help. Note where activity appeared, when you first noticed it and whether it changes during the day. Photos can be useful if you can take them without approaching a nest or disturbing an affected area.

Share the context of your property

Mention whether the space is a house, apartment or business. Let the team know about children, pets, access restrictions and any treatments already attempted. In a shared building, mention whether nearby units have reported similar concerns.

Make relevant spaces accessible

Ask which areas need to be available for inspection. Avoid moving potentially affected belongings into other rooms before receiving advice. Large-scale clearing or cleaning is not always needed ahead of an initial assessment.

Leave with a clear plan

Ask what evidence was found, which options are recommended and what is included in the quote. Clarify preparation, re-entry instructions, follow-up and any conditions attached to a service agreement.

Useful questions to take with you

Which areas will be inspected? What preparation is necessary? What is included in the quote? What restrictions apply after treatment? How will follow-up be arranged?

Keep the instructions close

Save the preparation and aftercare guidance provided for your property. If access or household arrangements change before the appointment, share those changes with the team.

This is general property-care guidance. Preparation, treatment and re-entry instructions should be specific to your property and the products used.
